The joy of a bike

I was a college athlete.  I looked healthy but every 3 months for 2 years I experienced episodes, variously called Supraventricular Tachycardia, Epilepsy, Heart Attacks; which led me to see a Neurologist, Psychiatrist, Cardiologist, Immunologist, Allergist and Oncologist.

One episode ended with me waking in the hospital. I underwent electrophysiological surgery. Most physicians said: “Joe take it easy.” My mom said: “I think you need to get back on your bike.”

I liked bikes.  I got on the bike. I felt frustrated. My mind did not align with my body.

But I kept riding. That year I completed a mini-triathlon.
